Wanted to let you know we had a great time on our golf trip last week. Thanks for your help! We are already talking about going again next year. To help us plan, hoping you can answer a few questions.
The courses we played were all very different...which was great. Some we enjoyed much more than others. Our favorites were Blackmoor and River Club. Wachasaw East was also nice and paired well w/ Blackmoor due to location. We were disappointed in True Blue given all the hype around it. We would not want to play Founders Club again.
We talked to alot of different golfers and people who worked at the courses. Courses they said we should consider if we came back are,
Caledonia
Pawley's Plantation
Traditions
Willbrook Plantation
Is it possible to choose from all of these courses on our next trip or are only certain ones availble?
Also, when is the optimal time to book a trip for April 27? Are there any advantages to booking early? Our challenge is...the earlier we book the harder it is to get commitments...particularly if we want to increase the number of guys going.
Thanks again.
Brian
Thanks so much for your feedback. We are so happy you enjoyed your trip. We already have our team working on your next years plans. And yes we have early booking specials and you can really save a lot by taking advantage of them.
Just a little follow up on trip. Weather was a little cold first couple days last thread day really nice. No rain. Course in great shape. Had one small problem. Our afternoon tee time at Brunswick was moved back about 45 minutes and sprinklers came on at 7 and we had to be off course. We were on last hole. So not that big of deal except they changed our time and put us behind some locals who were terrible and didn’t care they were holding up three groups and no ranger
And of course they got done. 10 rounds in 5 days another great week in M B. Hope to do again next year.
Our accommodations were as advertised. Absolutely awesome! Wonderful house on a beautiful beach, great deck to enjoy the outside. We lost our hot water one day and we called to report the issue. After our golf game, there was still no hot water so I made a second call. Max, showed up. Turns out we had run out of propane and they had come and filled the wrong tank. Max got on the phone and made arrangements to get another delivery and called me while we were out for dinner to let me know we had our hot water back. Wonderful customer service. One minor issue we had was that one of our keys would only work on the deck side door. A bit annoying considering they have a digital lock and could just use an entry code.
The restaurants didn’t seem to be quite as good as Calabash last year but were still pretty good. Our first night was at Hanser House and it was quite good.
Pawleys Island Tavern was pretty cool. Doesn’t look like much but it is very eclectic. Live music outside, the inside is covered, walls and ceiling, with dollar bills, Quite interesting and the food was good as well. Some of the others we went to were The Claw house, Dead Dog Saloon, Quigleys Pint and Plate and did breakfast a couple of times at Eggs Up Grill, it was busy but good. I would recommend them all. Did a BBQ place one night that the name escapes me but it wasn’t very good anyway.
As for the golf it was very enjoyable with a couple of courses that were really fun. On the drive home we rated all that we played out of ten.
Pawleys Plantation 8
Litchfield 5
Blackmoor 5. First time we played it, it was great but this time the greens were bad, cart paths needed work. Quite disappointing.
Palmetto 6
Founders 3
International 7
River Club 7
True Blue 8 Very different course but lots of fun.
Hope you find this useful. We had a great time. Hope all is well with you and look forward to speaking with you about our next trip.
Thanks for recommending end of feb. The price was great, golf and weather was perfect.
Our absolutely loved staying in this area. The golf and restaurants were great. We played Brunswick Golf Course steps away from our villa - very convenient. Also played thistle and sandpiper also very nice courses.

We had a fantastic time! You were a tremendous host and we can’t thank you enough for all the hospitality.Thank you very much for the recommendations. You made the whole experience virtually effortless for us.

Perfect Trip for Our Group
Longleaf and The Carolina were just about perfect for our purposes Friday. Longleaf was leisurely and wide open–a straight-forward track that didn’t require huge amounts of concentration. The greens were in decent shape, probably running around a 9. I’d say it was a pretty easy spot at a point when it was very nice to be on a less demanding course.
The Carolina is clearly a “diamond in the rough.” There’s a great design there that just needs a bit more maintenance. I thought the course was really strong with great topography changes and holes that fit quite naturally into the landscape. The greens were actually in very good condition but the fairways and tees were in need of some attention. It hardly bothered us at all and we would up playing an extra nine there (my foot hardly bothered me at all that day). Again, we didn’t wait on a single shot.

3rd trip to Myrtle Beach and still great
Played 8 courses this year and all pretty good. Kings North, Southcreek, preswick, arrowhead, pearl west, meadow lands, rivers edge, farmstead and have to say it was a good line up. We played 36 holes a day witch was kind of a lot but enjoyed the courses. The resort we stayed was nice. It was just remolded and it was done well – Breakfast was include and it was a nice touch.
