This is one of the most scenic courses in the area with great play for a range of players. State of the art TifSport bermuda is utilized on the fairways and G-2 bentgrass is used on the putting surfaces, which are large and sloping. This is a modern era design that features ample landing zones but plenty of trouble for golfers who tend to spray their tee and approach shots. There are 5 sets of tees that afford players of all levels with an opportunity to choose a set that matches their game. The tips play to 7014 yards/141 slope, while alternate sets measure in distance and slope 6628 yards/135 slope, 6120 yards/124 slope, 5136 yards/103 slope for men and 123 for women, and 4502 yards with a player friendly slope of 107 for ladies using the forward tees.
The forward tees are very friendly for the higher handicappers yet challenging enough to keep it fun. This is more mature than Leopard’s Chase and therefore has more foliage and shade in the summer. The fairways are beautiful, not lined with homes, although the homes that are in view are lovely and far enough away. Extremely neat layout, one-of-a-kind. Greens are hard but consistent. Tip- land it short and run it up. The course doesn’t require many shots over 250 yards which makes it a nice play for shorter hitters and it keeps longer hitters at bay with traps and water.
The course is a fabulous layout that combines large natural waste areas with some well placed bunkering and forced carries over water, and interjects a mix of very drivable wide open landing areas with careful meandrous routing among the tall pines.
Tiger’s Eye is a striking layout that is truly unique to the Grand Strand/Brunswick Islands area. Carved from a virgin pine forest, this Tim Cate masterpiece features dramatic elevation changes, massive coquina boulders and breath-taking water features, including an 18th hole waterfall. With 18 unforgettable signature holes and slick TifEagle greens, Tiger’s Eye is both beautiful and challenging. No two holes are alike and you’ll be struck by the natural beauty of the landscaping and the unique challenge of some of the greatest holes in Myrtle Beach. The bentgrass greens were rolling a little slow as the course was trying to keep them from getting stressed in the hot weather, but otherwise, our playing experience was perfect.
