The course
The golf at Tradition
Tradition Golf Club is an 18-hole championship facility on Pawleys Island, and it is considered one of the best rounds in the Pawleys Island and Myrtle Beach area. The design pleases a wide range of skill levels, so families, beginners and avid golfers can all enjoy it.
The course has 30 sand hazards of various shapes and sizes, from waste bunkers to fairway and greenside traps. Water comes into play on 7 holes, with a couple of forced carries. Fairways are wide and lined with trees, and the Bermuda greens reward a well-struck approach.
Yardage help is everywhere. The Kirby marking system puts blocks on the fairways every 25 yards from 200 to 75, the cart paths are marked at 100, 150 and 200, and 150-yard stakes sit on all par 4s and 5s. Color-coded flags show the day’s front, middle or back hole location.

The Island Green
The par 4 7th has an island green that is 36 yards deep. A drive that finds the area near the 120-yard marker leaves a short iron or wedge into a daunting green complex.
Play it: hit an accurate drive first. The approach is much easier from the right spot.
8Par 4 · 430 yards from the tips
The Number One Handicap
The next par 4 plays 430 yards from the back tees, with a long waste bunker down the right side. It is the number one handicap hole on the course.
Play it: favor the left side off the tee and be happy with a par.

Course could have been better
Played tradition yesterday. 60% off in the club house. Golf course tees, greens were great however the fairways were a little sparse and looks like they had a great deal of tree damage that they are doing a lot of cutting down some huge trees so no rough but many unplayable lies do to mulch piles everywhere if the ball rolled out of the fairway🏌️♂️. Playing Caledonia tomorrow hopefully this course is better.
