Nike Golf Balls continues to evolve with new technologies with it new RZN forth Generation.

There are several significant changes to the ball, starting with the RZN core. RZN is a proprietary material that is now in its fourth generation, with the RZN core growing in size by 10 percent over the prior generation. That meant added weight to the core which had to be balanced out with additional weight on the mantle and core layers of the ball, which the company says improves moment of inertia for a straighter ball flight.

In addition, the RZN core is made with deeper grooves and X patterns on the square shapes, which, all together, had previously looked like a circular waffle. The changes, Nike says, offers more adhesion with the Speedlock mantle layer, meaning a more efficient transfer of energy for more carry. At the same time, the mantle grips better with the cover to produce approximately 150 rpm more spin.

Finally, the cover of the ball sports what’s been dubbed Flight Suit technology. Inside the dimple pattern are 13,558 microdimples which reduce drag and improve carry.

The new Nike RZN Tour golf balls are available in two models: Black for lower spin and more distance and Platinum for more spin.

In addition, the company announced two new RZN Speed models, three-piece balls utilizing the same core in the Tour models. The Speed Red is the distance ball, while Speed White is for more feel. The golf balls are available as of Jan. 29, 2016.
